Real Madrid defender Nacho Fernandez lamented another underwhelming performance but insisted attitude was not a problem.
The 27-year-old admitted that Sunday’s loss at Girona may have been because Madrid ‘were too relaxed’ but refuted claims this was the issue in Wednesday’s 3-1 defeat at Tottenham in the Champions League.
“Our attitude isn’t the problem, that’s been very strong,” Nacho told BeIn Sports after the match.
“It’s possible that we were too relaxed in our defeat to Girona, but that wasn’t the case today – conceding three goals was a different issue.
“We can only rectify this situation with more hard work, we are Real Madrid and have a great squad but have to show it.
“Did the defensive changes exposes us? No not at all, in fact it was the opposite. The problem for us was the goals arrived at stages when we were doing quite well and that really damaged us.”
