Karim Benzema ‘feels sorry’ for English-based pundit and presenter Gary Lineker after he criticised the Real Madrid striker.
The Match of the Day presenter criticised the Frenchman’s goal return and stated he was ‘overrated’ because of it with his comments coming under the spotlight.
“I feel sorry for those who can only criticise,” Benzema told Les Inrockuptibles, as quoted by Marca.
“These former players who become journalists have experienced the same situations as current players but there is no sense of empathy or solidatiry.
“All they can do is share their bad feelings and I feel embarrassed for them.
“Talking does not help, this can lead to misunderstandings and all I can do is concentrate on what I do on the pitch and helping my club win titles.”
Benzema has scored 182 goals in 375 appearances for Los Blancos since his 2009 move from Lyon.
