Depor appoint B team’s Cristobal

Deportivo have replaced the sacked Pepe Mel with B team Coach Cristobal Parralo (pictured second from right) until the end of the current campaign, the club have confirmed.

Mel was dismissed on Tuesday after only two wins in nine La Liga outings this season and will be replaced by Parralo, a former first team Coach at Girona.

“The board of directors have decided to rescind the contract of Pepe Mel as first team Coach,” a Depor statement read.

“The club want to sincerely thank the Madrid-born coach and his coaching staff for the dedication, effort and professionalism they have shown during the time they have been in charge of the first-team squad.

“Cristobal Parralo, coach of Deportivo Fabril, will be placed in charge of the team until the end of the season.”

Depor currently lie 16th in the standings with eight points from their opening nine matches.
