Cholo excited for Atleti’s bright future

Diego Simeone has spoken of his excitement for Atletico Madrid’s future a week after signing a renewed two-year contract at the club.

The Argentine tactician committed his future to Los Rojiblancos until June 2020 in the midst of his side moving into their new Wanda Metropolitano stadium later this month.

“After we played the last game of last season, at the Calderon, I spoke to all the people at the stadium and told them my thoughts and plans,” Simeone told a press conference ahead of the Champions League tie at Roma.

“I believe in this club’s future, I believe we are working well and we've got strong, gifted youth players coming through and we want them to mature well and grow.

“We have a great future ahead of us and the chance to grow even more. We now have a new stadium, which we will open next week, so we're optimistic that we can move things. The challenge gets greater and greater. There's life here.”

Atleti and Roma are in the same Champions League group as English champions Chelsea and Qarabag, from Azerbaijan.
