United to wait a year for Griezmann

Manchester United are reportedly keeping their famous number 7 shirt free for the potential arrival of Antoine Griezmann next summer.

The Manchester Evening News follows up on reports in The Daily Star that the French forward, who reaffirmed his commitment to Atleti this summer in wake of their transfer ban, is top of United’s wish list.

The report states United ‘believe their commercial strength will prove pivotal at a time when spending has escalated at a remarkable rate’, and will target Griezmann along with Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale.

Jose Mourinho’s side are willing to offer up to the €100m (£91m) required to activate the Atletico forward’s release clause next summer and he could take the shirt worn by George Best, Eric Cantona, David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo.
