Marcelino hails early performances

Valencia Coach Marcelino Garcia Toral has hailed his players after emerging undefeated from their matches against Real Madrid and Atletico.

Los Che followed up their 2-2 draw at the Bernabeu with a scoreless encounter with Diego Simeone’s side on Saturday afternoon to keep the new manager’s unbeaten record intact.

“We have played against both Real Madrid and Atletico yet we are undefeated,” Marcelino told reporters after the game.

“I believe this fact is worth mentioning as it is testimony to the hard work and ethic of my players.

“We are at the very start of a long and hard season but being competitive against this standard of opposition is important and stands us in good stead.

“There of course will be ups and downs but we must take influence from these performances and use them to push on.

“Against Atleti it was difficult as you would expect, I was disappointed with our lack of scoring chances but against a team so well-organised this is never easy.”
