Barcelona target Philippe Coutinho has requested a transfer from Liverpool following the club’s comments he would not be sold, say reports.
Sky Sports in England has stated the Brazilian has informed the club of his intentions and wishes to leave Anfield.
The report has also been verified by James Pearce of the Liverpool Echo and Goal.com – despite both initially claiming otherwise.
It comes in the wake of a statement from Liverpool earlier on Friday that the club would not contemplate a sale for the 25-year-old this summer.
“We wish to offer clarity as regards our position on a possible transfer of Philippe Coutinho,” read the Liverpool statement.
“The club’s definitive stance is that no offers for Philippe will be considered and he will remain a member of Liverpool Football Club when the summer window closes.”
