Barcelona are expecting to conclude a deal for Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho this week in a deal worth up to €100m, according to reports in Spain.
A report in El Mundo Deportivo, which makes the front page of their Monday edition, claims the Blaugrana are confident of wrapping up a deal for the Brazilian ahead of the Spanish Supercopa against Real Madrid.
Barca reportedly envisage the 25-year-old, who is usually deployed in an attacking front-three in England, as Andres Iniesta’s heir in the midfield.
Despite the former Inter playmaker signing a long-term deal until 2022 at Anfield last season he reportedly gave his word to the Catalan club two weeks ago at a meeting in London that he wished to join them.
Now, according to the report, only the transfer fee with the Premier League club needs finalised and whilst negotiations have not been easy, a deal of €100m is said to be likely.
Officials at the Camp Nou are also said to have completed the ‘key details’ for the €32m transfer of Real Sociedad defender Inigo Martinez, while Borussia Dortmund’s Ousmane Dembele is another key target.
