Betis ‘very close’ to Ryad Boudebouz

Real Betis are closing in on the signing of Montpellier playmaker Ryad Boudebouz, according to multiple reports.

Estadio Deportivo cites a report in Monday’s L’Equipe that the deal is set to be closed in the coming days with all parties ‘taking for granted’ a deal, a day after France Football reported a €7m deal had been struck.

The Algerian international is reportedly keen on a move to the Seville-based club with the only potential drawback to the deal being a Premier League club, rumoured to be West Ham United, lodging a late offer which could come close to €13m.

Such fees would be out of the remit of Los Verdiblancos although an eventual deal may come closer to €8.5m with Betis sporting director Lorenzo Serra Ferrer ‘confident’.

The 27-year-old starred in Ligue 1 last season, netting 11 times and he could be utilised as the primary replacement for Dani Ceballos, who joined Real Madrid last month.

The move would come after deals for Mario Pasalic, Sergio Canales and Gaston Ramirez all hit stumbling blocks.
