Levante’s Roger faces six months out

Newly-promoted Levante have been dealt a substantial blow with the news star forward Roger Marti (pictured left) will miss six months of action with ligament damage.

The 26-year-old was prolific in the Valencia-based side’s romp to last season’s La Liga 123 title, netting 23 times in 38 outings – only Joselu, now at Granada, netted more often in the second tier.

Medical tests have revealed he has ruptured the interior ligaments in his left knee after a challenge with Almeria goalkeeper Fernando in a friendly on Saturday.

Roger, formerly of Valencia and Real Valladolid, will now undergo surgery on Thursday and is expected to be ruled out until the new year.
