CL football ‘key’ for Bellerin move

Barcelona’s pursuit of Arsenal full back Hector Bellerin could be decided by the English side’s failure to qualify for the Champions League, say reports in Spain.

According to El Mundo Deportivo, the Gunners failure to make the top four could convince the 22-year-old to leave North London amid interest from the Blaugrana.

A graduate of Barca’s La Masia youth system, Bellerin signed a new long-term deal at the Emirates Stadium earlier this season until 2022 and the report suggests he is not unhappy in London.

However, despite being one of the highest earners at Arsenal he is reportedly open to a move to his boyhood club which will ‘only accelerate’ if his current club fail to qualify to Europe’s premier club competition.

Apparently the Catalan club have already set aside €50m for the transfer of the right-back and have reportedly let Arsenal know about their intentions.

Arsene Wenger’s side must defeat Everton on the final day of the season and hope Liverpool drop points at home to already-relegated Middlesbrough.
