Diego Simeone could receive a touchline ban following an incident at the end of Atletico Madrid’s defeat at home to Villarreal on Tuesday night.

The Argentine Coach was disgruntled with referee Ignacio Iglesias Villanueva ending the match with his team still hopeful of finding a late equaliser to salvage a point and the official's match report states he then placed his hands on an assistant referee while remonstrating with him.

“Coach: Diego Pablo Simeone Gonzalez – Once the game ended, he went up to my assistant referee number one, putting both hands on his shoulders from behind, remonstrating about the need to have added more time to the game," read the report.

Simeone was previously handed an eight-game ban after tapping a match official on the back of the head after being sent off during a 2014 Spanish Super Cup game against Real Madrid.

It is possible the boss could be unavailable from the sideline for Atletico’s upcoming match against Las Palmas.
