Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola paid tribute to former club Barcelona and Luis Enrique following their victory over Paris Saint-Germain.
Guardiola oversaw his City side held to a disappointing 0-0 draw at home to Stoke City in Wednesday’s Premier League clash but took time in his post-match press conference to praise an ‘amazing result’ for his former club.
“I didn’t have the chance to see the game, but congratulations to Barcelona – all the fans and especially manager Luis Enrique,” said the 46-year-old after his side’s draw.
“They have a unique generation of players who have all been playing so well for so many years and this is just another amazing result for them.”
Guardiola has previously played Barca twice in this season’s Champions League, falling to a 4-0 defeat in the Camp Nou before a 3-1 return victory at the Etihad, with both sides progressing through the group stage.
City currently lead French side Monaco 5-3 on aggregate after a pulsating first leg in Manchester.
