Diego Simeone expressed his joy at his Atletico Madrid’s side ‘complete performance’ as they breezed to a 3-0 victory at home to Valencia on Sunday.
Two goals from Antoine Griezmann and a deflected Kevin Gameiro strike restored Los Rojiblancos into fourth in the standings in the Argentine’s 200th La Liga match in charge.
"The response was fantastic," Simeone told his post-match press conference.
"We played on Thursday night, and the team responded very well physically and mentally.
"They understood quickly the game we wanted to play, went ahead early and could have been further ahead by half-time. We finished it off well after the break. It was a very complete performance.
"Reaching 200 La Liga games with Atleti? I never thought I would reach this many games with the club, even less the 400 of Luis.
"I am happy in the place where I am. I have a group of players who keep competing, after five-and-a-half years, with heart despite all the difficulties we have had this season.
"Today they showed once again they are there competing well. We hope to find that consistency we have been looking for this season."
