Diego Simeone revealed he heard the sound of the sickening collision of Fernando Torres from the bench and feared it was his neck.
The Argentine Coach was speaking in the immediate aftermath of his side’s 1-1 draw at Deportivo La Coruna but all focus was on the concerning injury for the striker, with news emerging later that he had made a recovery from the situation.
"We still don't have any official information but he's conscious," Simeone explained to his press conference.
“Worried, nervous… those are our feelings right now.
"We heard the blow from the bench, we saw how he fell and we were afraid. We didn't know if that noise was Fernando's neck or not.
"They are unfortunate situations that happen in matches and we're hoping for the best for Fernando."
Atleti secured a point in the match to continue in fourth position in La Liga, one point above Real Sociedad while Deportivo stay 17th.
