Lucho: Why I’m leaving Barca…

Luis Enrique has revealed that the need for rest led to his decision of standing down as Barcelona Coach.

Enrique’s motives seemingly draw parallels with those of Pep Guardiola in 2012, the latter having cited tiredness as why he chose to leave Barca and take a sabbatical.

“The reason why I’ve decided to leave is the manner in which I have to carry out this profession,” the 46-year-old told the Catalans’ official website.

“It’s an incessant search for solutions and improvements for the team, which means only a few hours of rest and disconnection for me.

“I’d like to thank the club for their faith in me throughout my career, not only as a player, but also as a Coach.

“They were the first to think that I could coach the [B team], I did it for three years and I’ve experienced three unforgettable years with the first team.

“There are three exciting months left, in which we can win three more trophies.

“One of them, the Champions League, is certainly difficult for us, but with the help of everyone, we’ll have the chance to turn it around.”
