Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has been crowned the winner of the inaugural Best FIFA Men’s Player for 2016.

Ronaldo enjoyed a sensational 2016, winning the Champions League with Madrid and captaining Portugal to glory at Euro 2016 – the country’s first-ever major trophy.

The 31-year-old beat Barcelona’s Lionel Messi, who finished second after a domestic double with the Catalans, and third-placed Antoine Griezmann, the Atletico Madrid man debuting as the superstar pair’s rival after leading Los Colchoneros and France to the above finals.

It also marks a double whammy for the attacker, who won a fourth Ballon d’Or and the first since France Football regained its exclusivity of the award last month.
