Pep: I’ll never be Barca president

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has ruled out a future return to Barcelona by confirming he will never be president of the club.

Fabio Capello had suggested earlier this week that Guardiola might be lining up the role as a future career path after the former Barca and Bayern Munich boss admitted he was ‘approaching the end’ of his managerial career.

"I was lucky to be trained by Fabio Capello and I would like to tell him I will never be president of FC Barcelona," Guardiola said at a news conference on Thursday.

"There is already Gerard Pique to do that."

The 45-year-old spent 17 years at Camp Nou as a player before returning to coach the B side followed by four years in charge of the first team after replacing Frank Rijkaard, where he won 14 trophies.

"In principle I won't coach Barca again," Guardiola confirmed to Mundo Deportivo in 2014.

"I think that there are cycles in life and that mine [at the club] finished."
