Former Valencia boss Cesare Prandelli claims “I could’ve been clever and waited for them to sack me”, but “I became disenfranchised”.

Prandelli reviewed his departure from Valencia a second time to Gazzetta dello Sport, in which he reiterated broken promises on the club’s part and also revealed the presence of a salary cap.

“I had a great two-year contract, I could’ve been clever and waited for them to sack me, but I’m not like that,” the Coach told the newspaper.

“I couldn’t stay at Valencia. I became disenfranchised towards the team and fans.

“I was promised an investment of €30m, which was reduced significantly. There were problems, we needed at least one striker, two midfielders and a winger.

“They have the problem of a salary cap. They wanted to lower it, but I reminded them that their contracts were signed by them

“I didn’t leave Valencia to go to another team, I’m still motivated. I have to recover my ideas but I don’t have retiring in mind.”
