Bayern dominant, admits Cholo

Diego Simeone admits Bayern Munich “were a lot better” than Atletico Madrid during his side’s 1-0 defeat in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Atleti lost their 100 percent record for the season in Europe as Robert Lewandowski’s free kick gave Bayern a 1-0 victory, although Los Colchoneros still reached the last 16 as group winners.

“At the end of the match there was the chance we could still get a draw, which is why I sent Oblak up for the corner,” the Coach said after the match, UEFA.com reports.

“We achieved good results in Holland and Russia and I think we have played very well on the road so far. That’s what put us in the position we were in coming into this game.

“Bayern were a lot better than us, especially in the second half.

“We had a couple of big chances at the start but then Bayern took control. They controlled the ball and they dominated the first half.

“In the second period we looked better and it was more even and we come away with a positive feeling from our final 15 minutes.

“The first half was a different story to the second and we improved a lot.”
