‘Messi will return to Newell’s’

A Vice-President of Newell’s Old Boys believes Lionel Messi will return to from Barcelona, possibly in two years.

Cristian D’Amico has predicted Messi’s move back to Argentina and the team he supported as a boy by the time the forward is 31, with Messi currently 29, and spoke of what it would mean to his club.

“I’m convinced, like many of my colleagues, that the club can make history if we get the best player in the world to wear our shirt. I think we’re going to get the pleasure of Messi wearing the shirt,” D’Amico told FourFourTwo, suggesting he could return after the 2018 World Cup.

“Imagine a game with Messi in the Coloso with the world’s Press and the sponsors making a big difference and economically, besides the sentimental value, it would make a big difference to paying debts.”
