Newcastle United’s Moussa Sissoko admits he is “flattered” by Real Madrid’s reported interest as rejecting the European champions would be “difficult”.
Madrid are said to have targeted Sissoko as an alternative to Paul Pogba, having been priced out of the Juventus midfielder and learned of the latter’s desire to leave Newcastle, and the France international made it clear Los Blancos were his favoured destination.
“I was hoping my time would come, and it may have,” he told L’Equipe.
“I feel ready to join one of the great [clubs], and it’s flattering to pique the interest of a Spanish club.
“[Rejecting Madrid would be] difficult. Who wouldn’t be flattered by the interest of not only one of the best clubs [in the world], if not the best?
“Developing under the watch of Zinedine Zidane would be something fantastic.”
