Del Bosque wary of ‘casting shadow’

Former Spain boss Vicente del Bosque admits he may reject the RFEF’s offer of a new role as “I don’t want to cast a shadow over the new Coach”.

Del Bosque recently gave up his reins of the Spanish national team after their unsuccessful European Championship defence, and while he has been promised a position with the country’s federation (RFEF), he is keen for his replacement to carve out his own legacy.

“I don’t know if I will take up a new position with the Federation, I still have to consider it. I don’t want to cast a shadow over the new Coach,” he told Cadena COPE.

“It’s not me who should make the decision about the next Coach, but I’d like him to be Spanish.”
