Barcelona sporting director Robert Fernandez insists Javier Mascherano will stay at the club and confirmed Denis Suarez’s return.
Suarez is at Villarreal but Barca have the rights to re-sign the forward this summer and will do so when they’re official able to reincorporate his registration.
“Villarreal already have notification. They know, and on July 1 it will be official,” Robert said, Mundo Deportivo reports.
“Nolito? We tried to reach a favourable situation for him [in January] and you know the reasons we couldn’t do more. At this time I can’t confirm or deny anything. To speak about individual players harms the situation.”
Robert did confirm Dani Alves will leave as per a clause in his contract and the right-back could join Juventus, but he was adamant Mascherano won’t go the same way.
“It’s clear with Mascherano that we will reach an agreement. He’s a vital player and I have no doubt he will continue here, in part because he’s under contract,” Robert continued.
“We’ve talked a lot about this topic. I spoke to him at the time and he knows this is the consensus view. He’s going to stay at Barca. That’s very clear and we always look for a positive framework.”
