Ter Stegen ‘wants Barca stay’

Marc-Andre Ter Stegen says he wants to remain at Barcelona but confirms a desire to be first choice goalkeeper.

The German was speaking to Barca’s in-house TV channel and despite playing only in the Champions League and Copa del Rey, leading to speculation over his future, Ter Stegen revealed his desire is to stay at Camp Nou.

“I am very happy and want to stay here, with the life I have. I never relax and always give everything. Myself, Claudio Bravo and Jordi Masip want to play every week and work to get it. I think it’s good for the team,” he said, Marca reports.

Barca play Espanyol on Sunday in a Catalan derby that could have repercussions in the Primera title race, but Ter Stegen feels La Blaugrana are prepared.

“We’re arriving strongly. The team is in good condition and we have doors open for two trophies,” he noted, with the Copa final to come, against Sevilla.

“I know what I can do and what the team can do. We train every day to be in this situation. It’s in our hands.”
