Abelardo: Four agonising games

Sporting Gijon Coach Abelardo is preparing for ‘four agonising games’ as his side try to avoid an immediate return to the Segunda.

The Asturian club dispatched Sevilla on Wednesday night through Isma Lopez’s late goal to go two points clear of the bottom three prior to Granda’s trip to Levante and Abelardo believes his team gave themselves a chance, even if the situation remains difficult.

“Victory is important for the table and for the influence on morale. But there are four games that will be agonising,” he said, AS reports, as Sporting play Barcelona, Eibar, Getafe and Villarreal.

“The win allows us to stay in the fight but on Saturday there is a very tough game against Barca, but then we have two at home and another away against a team fighting for the same as us. If we had seven or eight games we could stay up.”
