Antoine Griezmann has called on Atletico Madrid to be ‘strong mentally and physically’ as the season comes to a close.
Atletico are vying with Barcelona and Real Madrid for top spot in La Liga and recently reached the Champions League semi-finals, eliminating the Catalans, with Bayern Munich next.
“We are confident, we’ve just achieved something big in the Champions League, we’re close in the League and we will fight to the end. It will be difficult, the XI that starts will have to be psyched to give everything, it will be complicated and we have to be strong mentally and physically,” the France international said, AS reports.
Atletico play Athletic Bilbao at San Mames on Wednesday and Griezmann recalled a previous visit, when he scored a hat-trick, as he looks for a personal landmark.
“There are good memories. I always try to give my best at that stadium, give my best for three points. They’re a strong team, it will be difficult and we have to be prepared,” he said regarding the Basques.
“I’m two goals from my best mark in the League and I’ll try to do everything possible to exceed that figure. I appreciate the support and every time the fans sing my name I try to applaud them. They motivate me a lot and I’m proud to play for this club.”
