Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets claimed fortune favoured Valencia as “they came at us twice and scored twice” in Sunday’s 2-1 defeat.
Barca created a host of chances but were ultimately denied by a mix of poor finishing and Diego Alves’ exploits between the sticks, prompting “optimism” from Busquets about his side’s chances of defending their La Liga crown.
“Most of our defeat was due to us not being clinical enough and misfortune,” he said after the game.
“We’re in a dynamic that doesn’t suit us, so we must get out of it. They came at us twice and scored twice.
“I think we will [bounce back], but we’ll see how the days pass. We have to keep working hard and fighting.
“’I’m optimistic because the worst thing would be if we didn’t create chances.
“We didn’t lose due to fatigue or a lack of desire. We must be united.”
