Gerard Pique and Diego Simeone reportedly exchanged words regarding Atletico Madrid’s Champions League quarter-final win over Barcelona.
La Informacion reports Pique was an hour after the final whistle still annoyed with Nicola Rizzoli’s decision not to award Barca a late penalty for a handball by Gabi, and, shortly after the match finished, spoke to Simeone before the Coach’s Press conference.
It’s said that Pique was insistent to Cholo that Gabi was inside the penalty area when he handled – Rizzoli awarding a free-kick on the edge of the box – while Simeone countered by arguing Andres Iniesta should have been sent off for handball in a spot kick that was given.
Simeone also complained to Pique about an alleged elbow by Luis Suarez on Diego Godin, with Pique loudly replying ‘show me, show me,’ when the altercation was raised.
