Atletico Madrid hero Antoine Griezmann revelled in a “great night” after his side eliminated Barcelona from the Champions League quarter-finals on Wednesday.
Griezmann scored both of Atleti’s goals in a 2-0 victory over Barca to not only cancel out the 2-1 defeat in Catalonia but send Los Colchoneros into the semi-finals at the expense of the competition holders, in a repeat of the 2013-14 campaign.
“We’re all very happy,” the forward told BT Sport after the game.
“We all wanted to perform and get through. It was a great night and I hope we can repeat it.
“We have a fantastic group and did everything to get through. We defended together and that’s our strength.
“[On having eliminated the holders], of course we’re happy about that, and now we can look forward to semis and get through.”
