Diego Simeone isn’t interested in Atletico Madrid going to Barcelona and playing for a draw in the Champions League quarter-final.
Cholo was asked at his pre-match Press conference what would constitute a good result for his side in the first leg at Camp Nou.
“Winning,” came his to-the-point reply, AS reports.
“We know each other pretty well. From our side, we hope for more encounters with Barca because it gives you more of an opportunity to deal with situations that appear in a game or isolated against them.
“I don’t think there will be a lot of surprises. They are doing well and our work is solid. I don’t think the two teams can be separated by their results.”
The game between La Liga’s top two comes only days after Barca were beaten by Atleti’s neighbours, Real Madrid, but Simeone dismissed any effect of that result here.
“I don’t think it will be influential what happened the other day,” he insisted.
“We understand they’re playing at home and will go for the game. We are optimistic.
“It’s a tough game, a very strong opponent, but I have a lot of belief in the team.
“Best defence against best attack? It’s Barcelona-Atletico Madrid.”
