Diego Simeone insists Atletico Madrid want to face Barcelona at their best in the Champions League quarter-final.
Barca were subdued on Saturday as they lost the Clasico to Real Madrid and Simeone, having said he doesn’t think the weekend’s result will influence this fixture, called for Barca to show their best.
“It’ll be the game to which we are accustomed, with a lot of variation, depth,” he told a Press conference, AS reports.
“We hope for the best Barca and I’m sure we’ll find it and we will show our best version.”
Defence has been an area of concern for Cholo in recent weeks as injuries have hit, but Diego Godin is expected to return and the Coach has faith in Stefan Savic, himself recently returned from injury.
“We’ll see how he feels [after training], in which he did well, but he only has that one training session,” Simeone said of Savic.
“It’s important that the 18 [players in the squad] understand that tomorrow, a minute is life.
“Savic is a scorer. He has great defensive timing and reading, does very well at set-pieces like Godin and [Jose] Gimenez offensively and in the six months he’s been here, he’s improved.”
