Enrique: Barca not afraid of pressure

Luis Enrique says Barcelona “aren’t afraid” of the pressure to defend their La Liga crown after Sunday’s 4-0 win at Eibar.

Lionel Messi’s brace, plus goals from Munir El Haddadi and Luis Suarez, extended Barca’s record unbeaten run to 36 games and maintained the side’s eight-point lead on Atletico Madrid with only 10 matches remaining – much to the Coach’s glee.

“We’re where we want to be thanks to the work we’ve done,” he said after the game.

“The decisive stretch of the season is now under way. In the League, we’re very well placed, but there are many more games to play and ones against direct rivals.

“Everything went well for us, such as in overcoming high-pressure situations and tracking back.

“We were good throughout the match. I have nothing to criticise [the players for]. If we played at a lower level, we’d have suffered.

“Munir was great. He participated in all the right ways, did everything we asked of him and has great ability, despite being a young lad.

“It’s very difficult to face this team. I think we were even better than we were at Vallecas.

“We aren’t afraid of playing so well. These players do as they like, which is competing and winning.

“No-one can be sure that we’ll be at this level in our next game. Thirty points remain up for grabs.

“We won’t let ourselves be distracted by people calling us champions ahead of time.

“[The title] is only won when mathematically there are no more points. Up until that day, the League goes on.”
