Griezmann not worried by goal drought

Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann insists he isn’t overly concerned by his recent lack of goals. ‘I said when I was scoring, goals come in spurts…’

Griezmann has only scored once in his last seven appearances, having been prolific in the first part of the season, but said in advance of Atletico’s Champions League tie at PSV Eindhoven that this is the kind of run forwards experience.

“When I was scoring I said that goals come in spurts, there are good and bad times and the important thing is helping the team with other efforts that aren’t seen,” he said, AS reports.

“I have that and I also want to score, but it’s not in my head either.

“The effort of the group is very good. We’re creating chances, but it’s true we need to score. I’ve gone several games without scoring but have confidence in my teammates and myself.”

Griezmann admitted he doesn’t know a lot about PSV, but is ready for a hard game nevertheless.

“I’ve not seen videos but I know names and can highlight [Hector] Moreno, [Luuk] De Jong, who can’t play because of suspension,” he continued.

“It will be a difficult match and we have to be prepared.”
