Suarez: Barca the right choice

Luis Suarez is sure he made the right decision in joining Barcelona, previews Arsenal, reflects on Liverpool and talks MSN friendship.

Suarez returns to England on Tuesday with Barca as the Catalans meet the Gunners in the Champions League, but after coming close to Arsenal in 2013, he could have been on the other side of the fixture.

“It's inevitable that people will talk about them trying to sign me, with us facing them in Europe,” Suarez told the Daily Express.

“They are a big club, but it would have been very difficult to play for any team other than Liverpool in England.

"Barcelona was the right choice for me. Yes I have won the treble in my first season, but also my family are very happy in the city. Barcelona was the only choice for me, life is good.

“We are not taking the challenge they are going to give us lightly. Yes we are playing well and are confident, but Arsenal deserve a lot of respect and we must be focused in both games.

“Arsenal look like they have a very good chance of winning the League this season, they are one of the best teams in England.”

Suarez eventually left Anfield for Camp Nou in 2014 but hopes to see his old team succeed under Jurgen Klopp.

“They have a new coach who is one of the most experienced in Europe, so I am sure they can be back [in the Champions League] soon. It is where that special club belongs,” he argued.

Suarez concluded by elaborating on his relationship with strike partners Lionel Messi and Neymar, and their off-field bond.

“You don't have to be best friends with the people you work with, but it helps," he acknowledged.

"The friendship between myself, Messi, and Neymar is genuine, we are all very close.

I am sure that our friendship off the field is helping our understanding and communication on the field. All the time we are improving, and still we can reach an even higher level."
