‘Messi a privilege, penalties no concern’

Luis Enrique feels having Lionel Messi is a ‘privilege’ and isn’t concerned that Barcelona keep missing penalties.

It was Luis Suarez who failed from 12 yards against Sporting Gijon, days after Messi passed to Suarez from the spot against Celta Vigo.

“We want to get better but missing penalties concerns me 0%. We have three great specialists,” Enrique replied, AS reports, when the subject was raised after the 3-1 win at El Molinon.

Messi scored twice in the win, Suarez getting the other, and the brace saw the Argentine’s 300th and 301st League goals for the Catalans.

“Having Messi is a privilege,” Lucho said of the forward.

“We scored a good goal on the counter-attack, the transitions were impeccable.

“We were calm and calmed Sporting and their fans. We lost control after the penalty. [Suarez’s goal] secured the game.”

The game also marked Enrique’s return to his former club and his home region, which he grudgingly admitted was welcome.

“I’m not very sentimental. I come here often. I saw friends I hadn’t seen for a long time, which was nice,” he said.
