Simeone ‘tells Atletico he’s joining Chelsea’

A report in Spain claims Diego Simeone has told Atletico Madrid he will be the next manager of Chelsea.

OK Diario claims Cholo will quit Vicente Calderon for Stamford Bridge this summer and be the full-time successor to Jose Mourinho, who left in December.

Guus Hiddink is in interim control but it’s said that Simeone will execute a €12m-a-year agreement with the Premier League club, doubling his Atletico wage.

Simeone is said to be looking for a change of scenery after four years on the Atletico bench and will leave regardless of what Atletico achieve between now and the end of the season.

The Argentine will also do so with the support of the fans, the report predicts, and the door open to a return one day in the future.
