Caparros in at Espanyol?

Espanyol are reportedly negotiating with Joaquin Caparros to replace Constantin Galca after a 5-0 home defeat to Real Sociedad.

It’s claimed by multiple outlets in Spain that Galca is on the brink of the sack at Cornella-El Prat and the experienced Caparros will be named in his place.

Caparros most recently had the bench at Granada, leaving Los Carmenes just over a year ago as the side were threatened by relegation.

The 60-year-old has also been with Villarreal, Sevilla, Deportivo La Coruna, Athletic Bilbao, Mallorca and Levante.

Espanyol’s defeat to La Real means they remain a point and a place outside La Liga’s bottom three after 23 rounds have been played.

Galca was only appointed in December 2015, replacing Sergio Gonzalez, having played for Espanyol between 1997 and 2001.
