Enrique not worried by lack of buys

Luis Enrique confirms he wanted Barcelona to make additions in the January window but isn’t concerned at the lack of new faces.

Barca were in the market for Nolito from Celta Vigo but the forward remains at Balaidos despite Vice-President Jordi Mestre insisting the club did ‘everything and more’ to seal the transfer.

“We’re not a weaker squad [for lack of signings], that has nothing to do with it,” Enrique protested at a pre-Valencia Press conference, AS reports.

“The original idea was different and we were open to strengthening the team. We are the holders of the biggest trophies. We want to defend them and that is the same objective.

“We’re good, reliable, but we are missing the most important thing. The market has passed, there’s nothing to talk about.”

Neymar’s been in the news for non-football reasons with a court date amid an investigation into his move to Barca in 2013.

“From zero to 1m, he’s affected 0.0001%,” Enrique said.

“We’ve had this last year and this year. You asked this repeatedly. It’s not football and will be resolved how it has to be.”
