Ramos: Maybe Messi deserves it

Sergio Ramos grudgingly accepted Lionel Messi’s treble with Barcelona made him a worthy winner of the Ballon d’Or ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Real Madrid captain was speaking to Onda Cero’s Al Primer Toque and discussed the prize for the best player of the year, which had been Ronaldo’s in the past two years but on Monday was claimed by Messi for the fifth time.

“I think both Cristiano and Messi are extra-terrestrials. The struggle and the constant fight isn’t human,” Ramos said, Marca reports.

“Perhaps Leo has the treble and won two trophies that complement his level.

“Cris and Messi are two mega-stars, but maybe this year was a little more Leo’s.”

Ramos also touched on the recent change on the Madrid bench as Zinedine Zidane stepped in for Rafa Benitez, the skipper supporting the switch.

“The change has been good. I hope 2016 is a big year for Madrid,” he noted.
