Reports in England claim Pep Guardiola wants to take Lionel Messi with him when he signs up at Manchester City.
Guardiola has confirmed he is leaving Bayern Munich and that the Premier League will be his next destination, City considered most likely due to the presence of a number of former Barcelona executives in the club’s hierarchy.
The Daily Express believes Guardiola will try to tempt Messi to quit Camp Nou and go with him, though AS note Messi has generally always been happy at Barca and is particularly content now, alongside Neymar and Luis Suarez.
Guardiola is said to have asked that City sell their ‘project’ to Messi in an attempt to talk him into a switch, and the presence of Argentina teammate and friend Sergio Aguero could also be a factor. City would also pay Messi a substantial weekly wage.
