Jorge Valdano believes Real Madrid have ‘gambled’ by appointing Zinedine Zidane to replace Rafa Benitez.
Benitez was sacked on Monday and Madrid legend Zidane moved from the Castilla team to the seniors in his place, his first post at that level.
“Benitez had difficulties with his precise ideas in a squad with so many midfielders,” Marca reports Valdano as saying on an appearance on El Laguero.
“He made more effort to please the club than the club made to please him.
“Zidane is a gamble because of his lack of experience.”
