Enrique: No room for complacency

Luis Enrique has warned Barcelona that there is no room for complacency in 2016 ahead of Saturday’s Catalan derby against Espanyol.

La Blaugrana enter the New Year still in with a shout of back-to-back trebles, but the Coach insists his side must forget about the five trophies they won over the past 12 months and continue improving “in all aspects of the game”.

“These players have shown that they don’t get tired of winning,” he said at a Press conference.

“Everything we won [in 2015] is in the past. Now begin the important months [of the season].

“[Espanyol] have become an intense and organised team [under Constantin Galca] and will achieve good results with him.

“[On playing three games in a row against Espanyol], I don’t like it, but [Saturday] is essential for us to get the three points. They’ll be difficult and daring opponents.

“We must improve in all phases of the game to be in with a chance of winning every trophy this season. [January] is a month full of games.

“[On signings], I’d be happy to tell you all that I’ve asked the club [about wanting new recruits], but I won’t make [what I said] public. It’s not my way of working.

“[Arda Turan and Aleix Vidal] are two important players, who can play in various positions at a high level and give us many possibilities and resources.

“Their performances will tell us how quickly they’ll adapt. I’m very happy for them and them, plus how well they’ve trained without playing.”
