Santos threaten Barca with legal action

Santos have threatened Barcelona with legal action after the Catalans delayed a payment of the Neymar deal for the player’s Ballon d’Or nomination.

A €2m bonus is reportedly due to the Brazilian club after Neymar was nominated for the award alongside Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

But AS say Barca are holding back the money on the basis that Santos took their complaints over the arrangement of the transfer to FIFA, after it was alleged they didn’t receive the full amount for their share of Neymar’s rights when he moved to Camp Nou.

Barca have however claimed there were irregularities from Santos, including not providing a tax receipt, a charge labelled a ‘smokescreen’ by Santos, who have threatened legal action.

Santos also deny receiving a communication from Barca regarding the bonus and insist the payment is separate to their case involving the overall transfer.
