Barcelona have been hit by the news that Lionel Messi will miss this morning’s Club World Cup semi-final.
The Argentine star was expected to line up against Guangzhou Evergrande but Barca’s official website says he woke up on Thursday morning suffering from renal colic, a type of abdominal pain caused by kidney stones in the urine.
The Argentine’s availability for the remainder of the tournament will depend upon the outcome of further medical tests.
