Neville: Valencia fans unbelievable, amazing

Gary Neville has applauded the Valencia supporters for their reception and praised the team for their display against Barcelona.

Neville was last week appointed Coach until the end of the season but didn’t officially take charge until Sunday, the day after the draw with Barca, and held an open training session on Monday that was attended by some 3,000 fans.

“[The 3,000 figure] is unbelievable. [The open session] was announced in the afternoon. I found it amazing to look out and see so many people. It was great,” Neville told a Press conference, AS reports, held to preview the must-win Champions League game against Lyon.

“We have to invite the fans to every training session. It gives you maximum intensity, an even better attitude. It was a good session.

“It’s impossible to get everything across in 48 hours. There are simple ideas that will be in tomorrow’s game. We have to start learning.

“I think there’s a fascination with style of play. In every game, things are different. I believe in possession but also counter-attacking. It’s dangerous to say you have one style or another.

“I loved [being at] Mestalla on Saturday. It was a game against one of the best teams in Europe. We had organisation and spirit to endure. When Luis Suarez scored our heads didn’t drop. That’s what I want, a Mestalla that is horrible for the opponent.”
