Enrique: Barca need signings

Luis Enrique has reiterated Barcelona’s need for new blood in January after making it clear that his current squad lack depth.

The Catalans will be able to call on Arda Turan and Aleix Vidal in January, their transfer ban preventing them from doing so in the summer, but the Coach believes his side still need reinforcing, with the likes of Pedro Rodriguez and Xavi Hernandez yet to be replaced.

“[Real] have improved, even though we have only one game as a reference,” he said at a Press conference ahead of Real Sociedad on Saturday.

“We know Eusebio [Sacristan] has a good style. [Real] make life difficult for us and are rivals to be reckoned with.

“Real Sociedad have quality players who can hurt us on the ball. You can see Eusebio has a plan. It’ll be difficult for sure.

“Sergi [Roberto] wasn’t able to train [on Friday] after his injury against Roma, but [Javier] Mascherano has been trained and is able [to play].

“This match will be dangerous due to the opponents [we’re facing]. We’re in a good spell but intend to extend it to the fullest.

“There are still two thirds of the League to go and a lot of matches to get through.

“We’ll try to create danger from the beginning and be worthy of the three points.

“Like most coaches, the only match we’re working on and which can give us three points is the next one.

“It makes no sense to focus on what will happen between now and December.

“When the [January] window opens we’ll evaluate it. I’m always for strengthening the team as you have to be prepared in case things can go wrong.

“I’m always for making signings. In light of the injuries we have and players who left at the end of last season, we have less players [than last season].

“The objective is to be good throughout the whole season, but circumstances have made it harder.”
