Diego Simeone won’t send Atletico Madrid to Benfica to take a point in what is now a straight shootout to top Champions League Group C.
Atletico beat Galatasaray on Wednesday night while earlier Benfica drew with Astana, the results leaving the Portuguese club top of the table, but level on points with Los Colchoneros.
“We have to win and we have to fight for it, while they get first with a draw,” Cholo noted, AS reports.
“I’m very happy for the club, for the players and for the fans, and now we’re going to try and top the group.
“In the first half we played a great game and had a few chances, while in the second we had a few.
“We’ve played better games but since the start of the match we were in the game, knowing what we had to do. When we create more chances we have more chances to win, and that’s what happened today.”
