‘Spain at Camp Nou? I’d love it…’

Albert Rivera, leader of the Ciudadanos political party and a Barcelona supporter who opposes Catalan independence, hopes to see Spain play at Camp Nou.

Rivera appeared on Cadena SER’s El Laguero programme and recalled the 1992 Olympics, when Spain won the football gold medal in the final played in Barcelona.

“I am Barca. I was there and it was full of Spain flags. It hurts me that the club is politicised,” he said, Marca reports.

“The day it isn’t news that Spain play at Camp Nou is the day we have taken a step forward. Surely a national team game at Camp Nou would be liked. I’d love it.”
