Luis Enrique has claimed that Neymar is “unique and special” like Ronaldinho after the No 11’s brace in Sunday’s 3-0 victory over Villarreal.
The former Santos attacker reached double figures for the season in La Liga thanks to his pair of goals against the Yellow Submarine, the second of which was widely hailed as one of the strikes of the campaign.
“The team are growing and improving in key aspects of the game,” the Coach said after the game.
“I hope we’re still some way from our playing our best football of the season, but a team like Villarreal won’t afford you many chances.
“When we defend well, we have many more chances to score a goal and apply pressure.
“We had a good second half because we wore our opponents down in the first 15 minutes.
“I was lucky to play with Ronaldinho. In training, we used to stay behind and watch him kick the ball about.
“[Him and Neymar] are unique and special players. We also watch Neymar kick the ball about.
“[Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi] are two of the most decisive players around and it’s essential that there’s a good relationship between them and the team.
“The whole team always seek cohesion and harmony. I’m privileged to only have players focused on collective work.
“[Messi’s] still in the recovery process. He only has two weeks left [and will be back] either before or after the game against Real Madrid.”
